Isaiah14:24, 27 (KJV)
- The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass;
and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
- For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand
is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
The One Thing God Requires: Trust . . .His Will
Isaiah 14:24, 27
Christians usually want to know how to "find" God's will. The trouble with that kind
of thinking is the Bible never tells us God's will is lost. Further, what we are called
to do by Scripture is trust His will. What does it mean for Christians to trust the will
of God?
- The will of God is all encompassing . . . "as I have thought . . . it shall come
to pass."
As A.W. Pink says, "God either promotes, prohibits or permits all things that come to
pass." There is not one atom in the universe that moves but that God wills it to move.
- He wills the good things that happen to you . . .
"Every good gift . . . comes down from the Father of lights . . ." (James 1:17)

"Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself,
according to the good pleasure of his will" (Ephesians 1:5 also Deuteronomy 8:18;
Psalm 103:3).
- He wills the bad things that happen to you . . .
"I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and created disaster: I the Lord do all
these things" (NIV Isaiah 45:7).

- He is the controller, not the author of sin . . .
Sinful acts do not occur unless God wills them to happen. Yet He will hold responsible the one
who commits the sinful act for his sinful heart. (See Acts 4:27-28; Genesis 45:5; I Thessalonians
3:3; Micah 6:9).
- He controls sin for an ultimate, eternal good.
Either the good is for the spiritual welfare of His people (Romans 8:28) or the good is for the
praise and glory of His justice (II Thessalonians 1:6).
- The will of God is always effectual . . . "as I have thought . . . it shall come to
pass."
Dr. John Gill says, "There are no wishes, hopes, or unfulfilled desires in God; his will is
always effected, never made null and void. He does whatever he pleases . . ."
- People are never self-made . . .
"Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?" (Lamentations 3:37).
"A man's heart devises his way, but the Lord directs his steps" (Proverbs 16:9).
- God cannot be thwarted . . .
"He does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth;
and none can stop his hand, or say unto him, 'What dost thou?'" (Daniel 4:35).
- Therefore, acknowledge His will . . .
"I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will . . ." (I Corinthians 4:19). "And
this will we do, if God permit" (Hebrews 6:3). "Not as I will, but as thou
wilt" (Mark 14:36).
- The will of God is absolutely experienced . . . "as I have thought . . . it shall
come."
God's will is best understood by looking through a rear view mirror, not a periscope.
- His word will keep you from much trouble . . . "Thy word is a lamp . .
."
- His word may be violated, but never His will . . . "The Lord works out
everything for his own ends -- even the wicked for a day of disaster" (Proverbs 16:4).
- His will is personal, eternal, and immutable . . . trust His will.
