Our Cause For Hope
"The Exceeding Greatness of His Power"

Ephesians 1:19-23 (English-KJV)
  1. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
  2. Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
  3. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
  4. And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
  5. Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
The future for you as a child of God is bright!
To know this to be true requires two things from you:
  1. Getting your eye of faith off of yourself and onto God
  2. Getting to know God the way the Bible reveals Him to be
  1. A Definition of His Power at Work in You (v. 19)
5 times in Ephesians Paul mentions God’s power at work in us:
    (Ephesians 1:19 {twice}; 3:7; 3:20; 6:10)
5 words in this one verse (v.19) define for us God’s power:
    1. "The exceeding greatness of His power"
      --- His power is immeasurable
    2. "The exceeding greatness of His power"
      --- His power is inherent
    3. "According to the working of His mighty power"
--- His power is intense (power at work)
    4. "According to the working of His mighty power"
      --- His power is invincible
    5. "According to the working of His mighty power"
      --- His power is immutable
  2. An Illustration of His Power at Work in You (v. 20-23)
Why did Paul choose the illustration of Christ’s resurrection?
"The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death" (I Cor. 15:26)
God raised the carpenter from Nazereth from the dead and:
    1. Restored unto Him his former glory (v.20)
    2. Gave Him a name above all names (v.21)
    3. Put all things under His feet in subjection (v.22)
    4. United the church with Him to be their head (v.23)
  3. The Application of His Power at Work in You (2:1)
    "And you...,"
